Google Cash is one of those mythical intenet marketing products that comes along every once in a while. A real "tipping point" and game changer that totally rocks the establishment and give the little guy a chance. If you haven't been around long enough to remember, that's ok. That's it. We call it "direct linking" today but the approach is the same. Get a ton of keywords, put them into your campaign, and have your ad's destination URL be an affiliate link to an offer. Kinda like smartpages but for PPC.

The Google Cash days are over. Direct linking can work short term - it's a great way to muscle out some competition and to do market research. But leave it up more than a few days or weeks at best and you'll be slapped silly.

Don't get me wrong. There is NOTHING wrong with trying to "game" Google. Everything works for a while. And if you want to stay on the treadmill have at it. I can talk for days about redirect pages, frames, cloaking, and what not. It all has a place.

Here's how to take maximum advantage of ANY technique: figure out what people want and give it to them. Yep. That's it. In this case we're talking about Google. Figure out what "Google" wants and give it to them.

Emulate nature. That's the secret with SEO. And it's the secret with Adwords as well.
