Let’s face it — a lot of people struggle to “make it” online with internet marketing.

This may not be your story but I am sure as ‘shootin confident that you know someone that’s been struggling for a while.

Now normally I’d talk about focus, and having a plan that matches with your skill set and story.

I’d tell you it’s ok to start with an offer and work bottom-up. It’s ok to start with a market or ideal customer and work top-down. Top Down & Bottom Up marketing all end in the same place.

I’d tell you that success is about action – not learning or training.

Sure — you need some of that “ed-u-ma-cation” but sharpening the saw is only 1 of Covey’s 7 Habits and you’re probably screwing up because of some of them.

But not in this post. Nope — here I want to talk about naked vampire sex and how critical it is to your success.

Urgent Goal = A Goal That Is Going To Get Hit

That’s really the point of all this. A reporter asked Anna Paquin how she stayed in shape and looked so hot and beautiful on the TV show True Blood.

Her answer?

“It’s the “Well-what-would-you-eat-if-you-were-being-photographed-in-a-bikini-tomorrow?” diet.”

In other words, to quote Josh Hillis: “When it’s urgent, it just has to get done. There’s no time for B.S.”

That pretty much sums it up. It explains why someone needs to hit rock bottom before they’ll go through massive change. It explains why you just can’t seem to put all the pieces together in this little IM game we’re playing. It explains why writing that 500 word article is so tough and putting that squeeze page up just doesn’t get done.

The pain isn’t there. The urgency isn’t there. It’s not your fault — it just isn’t important enough yet.

Josh makes this same point with diet and exercise.

Willpower helps, but it isn’t enough.

Most people don’t have that.

It’s like, you want to look awesome naked… but you don’t have to be naked on TV in front of a million people tomorrow, so it isn’t that urgent.

And that’s really what gets done in life, stuff that’s urgent.

What Is Worth Getting Urgent About?

That’s the question. What’s it gonna take for you to take action. When Frank Kern talks about “Core Influence” this is what he means. When John Carlton talks about “reason why” copy and the reason behind the reason this is what he means.

Figure out what IS worth getting urgent about and you will make it work in internet marketing. And in life probably.
